ThermTec IBEX 635L – Thermal Imaging Rifle Scope with 640 Sensor and LRF
The ThermTec IBEX 635L is the top-of-the-line model in the IBEX series and combines a high-quality 640 × 512 VOx thermal imaging sensor with a NETD <18 mK with an exceptionally fast 35 mm F0.8 lens. The result is a thermal imaging rifle scope that reveals a great deal of detail while maintaining a surprisingly wide field of view. Add to that the integrated 1,000-meter laser rangefinder, ballistic calculator, Thermal Super Resolution, and ThermTec AI Calibration, and you have a complete riflescope for the discerning thermal imaging hunter.
With a 2.2× base optical magnification, a field of view of 21.9 × 17.6 meters at 100 meters, and a detection range of up to 1,800 meters, the IBEX 635L offers a powerful combination of overview, detail, and range. This makes the model highly versatile: from hunting from a blind in wooded terrain to observation and hunting across larger open areas.
640 × 512 sensor with NETD <18 mK
The main difference between the IBEX 320L and 335L is the 640 × 512-pixel VOx sensor. With 327,680 thermal pixels, the image contains significantly more information than a 384 × 288 sensor.
That difference becomes particularly noticeable when conditions get tougher or when zooming in digitally. Contours remain more easily recognizable, and details of the observed game are displayed more clearly.
The 12 μm pixel pitch and thermal sensitivity of NETD <18 mK ensure that even very small temperature differences can be detected. This high sensitivity provides a significant advantage, especially in humid conditions, fog, rain, or environments where the temperatures of game and the background are very similar.
With a frame rate of 50 Hz, the thermal image also remains smooth when tracking moving game and while panning the scope.
Bright 35 mm F0.8 lens
ThermTec combines the 640 sensor with a 35 mm F0.8 lens. The exceptionally fast F0.8 lens allows a great deal of thermal energy to reach the sensor, thereby enhancing the system’s high sensitivity.
The base optical magnification is 2.2×. Combined with the field of view of 12.5° × 10°, or approximately 21.9 × 17.6 meters at 100 meters, it provides a remarkably wide field of view.
That’s what makes the IBEX 635L so versatile. A group of wild boars at the edge of a forest can be quickly surveyed, while the higher sensor resolution simultaneously provides enough detail to assess individual animals more accurately.
With the digital zoom up to 4×, the total magnification reaches 8.8×.
Thermal Super Resolution
Thermal Super Resolution technology was developed to extract more usable details from the thermal image. This is particularly relevant during digital zoom: whereas simple thermal imaging systems quickly produce a coarse or blocky image, the image processing helps keep contours and structures more clearly recognizable.
When combined with the native 640 × 512 sensor, this technology really shines in the IBEX 635L.
ThermTec AI Calibration
ThermTec AI Calibration ensures a stable thermal image during observation and aiming. The intelligent calibration technology is designed to minimize disruptive image interruptions as much as possible.
That may sound like a minor detail, but continuity is important while hunting. When game is moving or a good opportunity arises only briefly, you want to keep tracking the thermal image without unnecessary interruptions.
Integrated 1,000-meter laser rangefinder
The integrated laser rangefinder (LRF) measures distances up to 1,000 meters with a specified accuracy of ±1 meter. The measured distance appears directly on the display.
This eliminates the need for a separate rangefinder. This is a particularly practical advantage during night hunting, since it is considerably more difficult to visually estimate distances in complete darkness.
The combination of observation, aiming, and rangefinding within a single optical system also reduces the number of steps required at moments when calm and concentration are essential.
Ballistic Calculator and AutoSighting System
The integrated LRF works in conjunction with the ballistic calculator and the ThermTec AutoSighting System (TASS). Based on the measured distance and the entered ballistic data, the system can assist in determining the necessary correction.
Up to six zero profiles can be saved. This allows you to save different settings for, for example, load patterns or firearms.
Freeze Zeroing makes zeroing easier because the image can be frozen while adjustments are being made.
1600 × 1200 AMOLED display
The thermal image is displayed on a 0.5-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1600 × 1200 pixels. The high screen resolution pairs perfectly with the 640 sensor and ensures a sharp, high-contrast image.
Six different color palettes are available, allowing you to adjust the thermal image display to suit the terrain, conditions, and your personal preference.
With Picture-in-Picture (PIP), the area around the point of aim can be further magnified while the full field of view remains available. This is a particularly useful combination of detail and overview, especially for more precise assessment and aiming.
Central controls, just like on a traditional rifle scope
The Central Turret Focus System places the most important controls in the center of the riflescope. This allows you to adjust the focus from the shooting position without having to reach forward unnecessarily.
The IBEX 635L has a conventional 30 mm tube diameter and can therefore be mounted using standard 30 mm mounting rings. This gives the IBEX the familiar profile of a classic riflescope while also offering a wide range of mounting options.
Automatic recording upon firing
With Recoil Activated Video (RAV), the IBEX can automatically record video footage around the moment of the shot. This eliminates the need to manually start the recording function each time.
In addition, it allows for manual photo and video recording with audio. The rifle scope features 64 GB of internal memory for this purpose.
A connection to a mobile device can be established via Wi-Fi, and USB-C is used for data transfer and charging.
Designed for serious use in the field
The IBEX 635L features a rugged aluminum housing with an IP67 rating. This makes the riflescope protected against dust and water and suitable for use in harsh weather conditions.
The construction can withstand recoil energy of up to 6,000 joules, and the specified temperature range is from -20 °C to +50 °C.
Power is supplied by a removable, rechargeable 18650 battery with a runtime of up to approximately six hours per battery. A dead battery can be easily replaced in the field.
Despite the 640 sensor, the 35 mm lens, and the integrated LRF, the weight is kept to approximately 770 grams.
The top model in the ThermTec IBEX series
The IBEX 635L is the highest-quality model in the IBEX series. The difference lies not only in its higher sensor resolution. The combination of the 640 × 512 sensor, NETD <18 mK, and the extremely fast 35 mm F0.8 lens delivers more image information and detail, while the field of view remains remarkably wide.
This makes the 635L particularly appealing to hunters who regularly hunt in varying conditions and have high expectations for both observation and target assessment.
It shares the rest of its core technology with its smaller IBEX models: 1,000-meter LRF, ballistic calculator, AutoSighting System, Thermal Super Resolution, AI Calibration, RAV, and the 1600 × 1200 AMOLED display.

Why Choose the IBEX 635L?
Compared to the IBEX 320L, you’ll notice a significant improvement in sensor resolution and detection range. With its 20 mm objective lens, the 320L has a slightly wider field of view and a lower price, while the 635L clearly offers more image detail.
Compared to the IBEX 335L, the 640 × 512 sensor is the key differentiator. Both models use a 35 mm lens, but the higher resolution of the 635L provides more detail and preserves more usable image information when digitally zoomed in.
If you’re looking for the best thermal imaging quality in the IBEX series, the ThermTec IBEX 635L is the one for you.
