The ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro is a new-generation, high-quality thermal imaging scope that combines a sensitive 640×512 thermal sensor, a fast 35 mm F1.0 lens, and an integrated laser rangefinder with a range of up to 1,000 meters, all in a single compact housing.
While many thermal imaging scope attachments require a separate rangefinder, ThermTec has fully integrated the LRF into the HUNT 635L Pro. Combined with the built-in ballistic calculator, E-Zoom, and the sharp 1920×1080 OLED display, this creates an exceptionally comprehensive system for the discerning hunter.
The choice of a 35-mm lens makes the HUNT 635L Pro particularly appealing for hunting in the Netherlands and Western Europe. The relatively wide field of view ensures that you can quickly maintain an overview, while the high-quality 640×512 sensor provides sufficient detail for accurate observation at longer ranges.
At the heart of the ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro is the 640×512-pixel thermal sensor with a pixel pitch of 12 µm.
With a thermal sensitivity of NETD <15 mK, the sensor can detect very small temperature differences. This is especially noticeable when conditions become challenging for thermal imaging equipment.
For example:
high humidity;
fog;
light rain;
warm summer evenings;
vegetation with little temperature variation;
game that is partially hidden behind vegetation.
It is precisely under such conditions that a low NETD value ensures that contours and details remain more clearly visible.
The 50 Hz refresh rate also ensures a steady and smooth image when game is moving or when you're tracking it with your rifle.
ThermTec has equipped the HUNT 635L Pro with a 35 mm F1.0 germanium lens.
The combination of a 35-mm lens and the 640×512 sensor results in a field of view of approximately 12.5° × 10°, or about 22 meters wide at a distance of 100 meters.
That wide field of view is a major advantage while hunting.
You can keep a larger area of the terrain in view and track moving game more easily than with a thermal imaging scope equipped with, for example, a 50 mm objective lens.
This makes the HUNT 635L Pro particularly well-suited for hunting situations where distances change frequently and a quick overview is more important than maximum magnification.
One of the biggest innovations of the ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro is the integrated LRF laser rangefinder.
This device allows you to measure distances of up to 1,000 meters.
That’s a major advantage of using thermal imaging. In a thermal image, many of the normal visual reference points you use during the day to estimate distance are missing.
As a result, an animal at 80 meters can look surprisingly similar in the thermal image to the same animal at 130 meters.
With a single distance measurement, you’ll know immediately how far away the target actually is.
ThermTec combines a laser rangefinder with an integrated ballistic calculator.
This means the HUNT 635L Pro does more than just measure distance. The system can use ballistic information to help the user determine the relevant point of impact.
For hunters who shoot at various distances, this is an interesting addition, as it combines rangefinding and ballistic calculations within the same system.
Multiple weapon profiles can be saved, allowing the HUNT 635L Pro to be configured for various combinations of rifles and scopes.
A particularly interesting feature of the HUNT 635L Pro is E-Zoom.
With traditional thermal imaging rifle scopes, the magnification is primarily determined by the rifle scope located behind the thermal imaging device. When the magnification is significantly increased, the visible portion of the screen is also magnified as a result.
With the HUNT 635L Pro, ThermTec introduces a special E-Zoom feature that provides additional magnification in attachment mode.
The available magnification settings are:
2×;
3×;
4×.
The magnified image is displayed as a picture-in-picture view in the center of the screen. This allows you to further magnify a specific area of the thermal image while maintaining the overall view.
This can be particularly useful with a riflescope used at a relatively low magnification.
The HUNT 635L Pro features a high-quality 1920×1080 OLED display.
The high resolution of the internal screen ensures that the information from the 640×512 thermal sensor is displayed in as much detail as possible.
This is especially important with a rifle scope. After all, the image is then viewed again and magnified through the daytime scope.
The combination of the 640 sensor and the Full HD display makes it possible to use the HUNT 635L Pro with a wide range of rifle scope magnifications.
ThermTec uses advanced image processing to keep the thermal image stable and detailed.
AI Image Calibration is designed to automatically optimize image quality under changing conditions.
This keeps the image stable and allows small temperature differences to be made more clearly visible.
In practice, this means less focus on the device and more focus on what’s actually happening in the field.
The ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro can be used for more than just thermal imaging.
The device also features a monocular observation mode.
This allows you to first observe independently with the HUNT and then use it as a front-mounted scope in front of your rifle scope.
In monocular mode, the HUNT 635L Pro offers approximately 2.5× magnification.
This makes the system appealing to hunters who want to use a single, compact thermal imaging device for both observation and daytime optical applications.
Despite its built-in laser rangefinder, the HUNT 635L Pro has remained remarkably compact.
The device weighs approximately 463 grams, including the battery.
The housing is made of a strong magnesium alloy. This allows ThermTec to combine a lightweight design with a rugged construction.
The dimensions are approximately:
137 × 82 × 86 mm.
Light weight is especially important for a clip-on scope, because the device is mounted on the front of the rifle scope. The heavier a clip-on is, the more it affects the rifle’s balance.
The ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro is designed for mounting on a firearm and, according to ThermTec, can withstand recoil energy of up to 6,000 joules.
This allows the device to be used with a wide range of common hunting calibers.
The fine adjustment is approximately 1.6 cm per click at 100 meters, allowing the digital image to be accurately corrected relative to the existing daytime optics.
The built-in Recoil Activated Video (RAV) feature can automatically save video recordings when the device detects a shot.
This means you don't have to manually start a video recording first while hunting.
Photos and videos are stored on the spacious 64 GB internal memory and can be played back on the device later or transferred via Wi-Fi.
The HUNT 635L Pro uses a replaceable battery.
In practice, this is a significant advantage over devices that rely solely on a built-in battery. During longer hunting days, you can easily swap in a fully charged battery.
According to the current product specifications, two batteries are included.
The specified battery life is approximately 5 hours or more per battery at 25 °C, depending on the use of features such as Wi-Fi, LRF, and video recording.
A thermal imaging scope must function reliably under all conditions.
The ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro therefore has an IP67 rating and a specified operating temperature range of -20 °C to +50 °C.
Rain, moisture, and winter conditions are therefore no problem under normal use.
The HUNT 635L Pro stands out primarily due to its combination of a relatively wide field of view and a very comprehensive set of features.

The choice between the ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro and HUNT 650L Pro is largely determined by the operating range.
The HUNT 635L Pro uses a 35 mm objective lens, offering a much wider field of view. This makes it particularly well-suited for short- to medium-range hunting and situations where you want to maintain a broad overview.
A 50-mm model like the HUNT 650L Pro has a narrower field of view and is better suited for detail and identification at longer ranges.
For many hunting situations in the Netherlands, the combination of a 640×512 sensor and a 35 mm lens is particularly appealing. At relatively short distances, you can keep a large area in view, while the high sensor resolution still delivers excellent detail.
The ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro is particularly appealing to hunters looking for a compact yet high-quality thermal imaging scope who do not want to use a separate laser rangefinder.
Thanks to the combination of the 35 mm lens, 640 sensor, and integrated LRF, it is ideal for hunting, for example:
wild boar;
fox;
roe deer;
fallow deer;
other big game and predators.
Its wide field of view also makes it ideal for use in wooded areas, in fields, and in locations where game frequently appears at relatively close range.
With the ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro, you’re choosing one of ThermTec’s newest thermal imaging rifle scopes.
The combination of a high-sensitivity 640×512 sensor, a 35 mm F1.0 lens, an integrated 1,000-meter laser rangefinder, a ballistic calculator, E-Zoom, and a Full HD OLED display makes this an exceptionally comprehensive thermal imaging system for the discerning hunter.

Are you torn between the ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro and the ThermTec HUNT 650L? On paper, these two thermal imaging rifle scopes are very similar. They both feature a high-quality 640×512 thermal sensor, a very low NETD value, a Full HD OLED display, an integrated laser rangefinder, and a ballistic calculator.
The main difference, however, lies in the lens.
The HUNT 635L Pro has a 35 mm F1.0 lens, while the HUNT 650L is equipped with a 50 mm F1.0 lens.
This difference largely determines how the viewer behaves while hunting.

The biggest advantage of the ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro is its wide field of view.
At 100 meters, you can see a width of approximately 22 meters. With the HUNT 650L, this is approximately 15.4 meters.
That difference of nearly 7 meters is much greater during a hunt than it might seem on paper.
With the HUNT 635L Pro:
you’ll be able to locate game faster;
makes it easier to track moving game;
gives you a better overview of the terrain;
The combination works better at lower magnifications on the daytime rifle scope;
It provides a smoother and clearer image, especially at short and medium ranges.
For hunting in the Netherlands, in forested areas, on smaller agricultural plots, and in situations where distances are typically between about 30 and 150 meters, we therefore find the 35 mm version particularly interesting.
The ThermTec HUNT 650L uses a 50 mm objective lens.
This gives you a narrower field of view, but the target appears larger. As a result, you’ll see more detail at greater distances.
As a result, the specified detection range is up to approximately 2,600 meters, compared to approximately 1,800 meters for the 635L Pro.
The HUNT 650L is particularly useful if you hunt frequently in:
large open agricultural areas;
vast fields;
hilly terrain;
mountainous terrain;
situations where game is often at a greater distance.
For hunting in Germany, Spain, or Eastern Europe, for example, a 50-mm objective lens may therefore be a more attractive option.
A longer detection range does not automatically mean that a thermal imaging device is better.
The most important thing is the distance at which you actually use it.
A 50-mm objective lens provides greater magnification and more detail at a distance, but this comes at the cost of a narrower field of view.
A 35 mm lens actually provides less optical magnification, but a significantly wider field of view.
A simple example:
At 100 meters:
HUNT 635L Pro:
approximately 22-meter-wide field of view
HUNT 650L:
Approximately 15.4-meter-wide image
With the 635L, you can therefore see about 43% more terrain in width than with the 650L.
That’s important for a scope attachment. After all, you’ll ultimately be looking through your existing rifle scope, which also magnifies the image.
For short-range hunting, we would definitely choose the ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro.
The larger field of view makes it significantly easier to locate and track game.
The 35 mm lens offers significant advantages when hunting, for example, wild boar emerging from cover at close range, foxes on smaller plots, or hunting from a raised stand with relatively short shooting distances.
In this price range, the choice becomes more personal.
The HUNT 635L Pro still offers excellent detail thanks to its 640×512 sensor, while maintaining a comfortable wide field of view.
However, anyone who regularly looks at targets 150–200 meters away or farther and places greater emphasis on detail will appreciate the extra magnification of the HUNT 650L.
If you regularly observe targets at longer ranges, the HUNT 650L offers a clear advantage.
The combination of the same 640×512 sensor with the longer 50 mm lens provides a higher optical magnification and a detection range of up to approximately 2,600 meters.
The HUNT 650L is therefore the logical choice for open terrain and longer hunting distances.
Both models come with a built-in laser rangefinder with a range of up to 1,000 meters.
This is a significant improvement over traditional thermal imaging scope attachments.
Estimating distance with thermal imaging is actually more difficult than with standard optics. Backgrounds and familiar landmarks are less clearly visible.
With the built-in LRF, you can measure distance directly from the thermal imaging scope.
Both the HUNT 635L Pro and the HUNT 650L feature a ballistic calculator.
In combination with the measured distance, the system can assist in determining the necessary ballistic correction.
These HUNT models thus combine three functions in a single system:
thermal imaging + rangefinding + ballistic calculation.
Another interesting feature is the new E-Zoom.
This allows the central portion of the thermal image to be digitally zoomed in on using:
2×, 3×, or 4×.
The enlarged image appears in the center as a picture-in-picture.
This is particularly interesting when it comes to the HUNT 635L Pro.
First, you’ll benefit from the wide field of view provided by the 35 mm lens. When you need more detail, you can use E-Zoom.
This partially compensates for the difference compared to a 50 mm model, while allowing you to retain the wide field of view.
For most hunting situations in the Netherlands, we would recommend the ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro.
The combination of:
640×512 sensor + 35 mm F1.0 + 22-meter field of view + 1,000-meter LRF
is exceptionally versatile.
The field of view is wide enough to easily spot and track game, while the sensor resolution is high enough to maintain excellent detail even at medium ranges.
We would particularly recommend the HUNT 650L to hunters who demonstrably hunt at longer ranges and are willing to accept the smaller field of view that comes with it.
Choose the ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro when:
you mainly hunt at ranges between 30 and 150 meters;
a wide field of view is important;
if you hunt a lot in the woods or on smaller plots;
you want to track moving game more easily;
If you’re looking for a versatile thermal imaging scope;
if you want both a clear overview and a built-in LRF.
Choose the ThermTec HUNT 650L when:
you hunt a lot in open terrain;
distances are often over 150–200 meters;
maximum detection range is important;
if you want more optical magnification and detail at a distance;
a narrower field of view is not a problem.
There is no clear winner between the ThermTec HUNT 635L Pro and the HUNT 650L.
The 635L Pro is the all-around model. Its wide 35 mm field of view makes it particularly user-friendly at short and medium hunting ranges.
The 650L is the range-finding specialist. The 50 mm lens provides more detail and a greater detection range, but offers a narrower field of view.
For Dutch hunting conditions, the HUNT 635L Pro will likely be the most practical choice for many hunters. Those who hunt primarily in very open terrain or at longer ranges will benefit more from the HUNT 650L.
