RIX Optics STORM S6R Thermal Imaging Rifle Scope with Laser Rangefinder

The RIX Optics STORM S6R combines a high-quality 640×512 thermal imaging sensor, an exceptionally low thermal sensitivity of NETD <20 mK, and an integrated laser rangefinder in a housing weighing just 454 grams. The result is a compact thermal imaging rifle scope for hunters who want more detail at longer ranges, a wider field of view, and instant distance information.

The fast 35 mm F1.0 lens offers a detection range of up to 1,800 meters, while the built-in LRF measures distances up to 1,200 meters with an accuracy of ±1 meter. Thanks to the 2× base magnification, 1–4× digital zoom, and Picture-in-Picture feature, you can quickly switch between a wide-area view and focused observation.

640×512 sensor for visibly greater thermal detail

The 640×512 VOx sensor provides significantly more image information than thermal optics with a lower sensor resolution. Contours remain sharper, terrain features are easier to make out, and digital magnification preserves more usable detail.

The low NETD <20 mK also helps distinguish small temperature differences. This is particularly important in fog, rain, high humidity, or warm nights when the target and background are thermally closer together.

Whereas simpler thermal imaging scopes tend to display a flatter image under such conditions, the STORM S6R continues to reveal more detail.

Wide field of view and impressive range

With a field of view of 12.5° × 9.4°, or approximately 21.9 × 17.6 meters at 100 meters, the S6R offers a strong balance between range and situational awareness.

From a tree stand or observation point, you can efficiently scan a wide forest edge or large plot of land. If you detect a heat source, the 2× base magnification helps you focus your observation immediately without unnecessarily narrowing the field of view.

With a detection range of up to 1,800 meters, the S6R is suitable for open terrain, large agricultural plots, and long sightlines.

Integrated laser rangefinder with a range of up to 1,200 meters

The built-in laser rangefinder measures distances up to 1,200 meters with an accuracy of ±1 meter. You don’t have to switch between different devices while observing, so you can keep the heat source in view at all times.

The smart rangefinding and trajectory functions provide immediately usable spatial information. This makes the S6R particularly well-suited for situations where distance, position, and terrain must be assessed quickly and accurately.

Picture-in-Picture with independent zoom

With Picture-in-Picture, you can zoom in on a selected portion of the thermal image without losing the full overview. On the STORM S6R, the magnification of the PiP window can be adjusted independently of the main image.

This allows you to keep an eye on your surroundings while tracking a heat source more accurately. It offers more control than systems where digital zoom immediately restricts the entire field of view.

Smooth 50 Hz image on a 1024×768 AMOLED display

The 50 Hz frame rate ensures smooth viewing while panning and tracking moving game. The image remains steady and natural, even when you’re quickly scanning along the edge of a forest.

The 1024×768 AMOLED display shows thermal details with high contrast and sharp clarity. Sunny Mode optimizes the display in warm, dry conditions, while Rain Mode increases sensitivity when moisture and precipitation reduce thermal contrast.

Direct controls, even when wearing gloves

The large four-way buttons directly correspond to the layout of the user interface. This allows you to control the most important functions quickly and intuitively, even while wearing gloves or in complete darkness.

The Return to Center feature helps re-center the digital display after calibration. This provides a more natural view and reduces visual fatigue during longer observation sessions.

Rugged without being unnecessarily heavy

Despite its 640×512 sensor, laser rangefinder, and rugged construction, the STORM S6R weighs only 454 grams.

The housing has been tested to withstand 1,000 g and 6,000 joules, has an IP67 rating, and is designed for use at temperatures ranging from -20 °C to +50 °C.

This makes these thermal imaging optics suitable for intensive field use, rain, dust, severe vibrations, and powerful recoil.
