Nocpix Nature ROVEX – thermal imaging camera with a 5" touchscreen and AI detection
The Nocpix Nature ROVEX takes a completely different approach than a traditional thermal imaging monocular. Instead of looking through a small eyepiece, you observe directly on a large 5-inch HD touchscreen. This makes quick scanning more comfortable and allows multiple people to view the image at the same time.
The combination of a 384 × 288 / 12 μm thermal sensor, a fast 15 mm F0.8 lens, a 17.5° wide field of view, R+ Super-Resolution, and AI Smart Tracking makes the ROVEX particularly well-suited for detecting and observing birds and other wildlife in dense vegetation, at dusk, and in difficult weather conditions.
Large 5-inch screen: observe without an eyepiece
The open-view concept is one of the ROVEX’s key advantages. The 5-inch LCD display with 1280 × 720 pixels shows the thermal image immediately and in a large format. This allows you to stay more aware of your surroundings and search for extended periods without constantly looking through an eyepiece with one eye. It’s also particularly practical for people who wear glasses and for group observation.
Wide-angle view with 15 mm F0.8 lens
The 15 mm F0.8 lens offers a wide field of view of 17.5° × 13.1°. This allows you to survey a relatively large area in a single frame while scanning. Furthermore, according to Nocpix, the large F0.8 aperture allows 56% more thermal energy to pass through than a conventional F1.0 lens.
You’ll notice this especially when searching for:
- forest edges, hedgerows, and thickets;
- reed beds and tall vegetation;
- meadows and nature reserves;
- birds and game during morning and evening twilight;
- animals that are hard to spot in fog, rain, or high humidity.
R+ Super-Resolution and AI Smart Tracking
The ROVEX combines its thermal sensor with R+ Super-Resolution, intelligent image noise reduction, and Smart Target Highlighting. R+ increases the visual resolution to 768 and continuously processes the enhanced thermal image at 50 Hz.
AI Smart Tracking analyzes the thermal image and automatically highlights potential birds. A red frame indicates a high probability of over 70%; orange is used for potential detections between 40 and 70%. This is especially helpful in complex vegetation, allowing you to spot relevant heat sources more quickly.
Three image modes for different conditions
In addition to standard mode, the Nocpix ROVEX features a dedicated Birding Mode, which highlights heat sources and suppresses cooler background noise. The Rain & Fog Mode is designed to reduce thermal interference caused by moisture, fog, and rain.
Designed for mobile use in the field
Despite its large screen, the ROVEX weighs less than 290 grams without the battery. The housing features a metal frame, a rubber grip, IP66 protection against dust and water, and is designed to withstand a drop from 1 meter.
Photos and videos can be saved directly to the 64 GB internal memory. Wi-Fi and the app also enable real-time image viewing and wireless control. The removable 21700 Li-ion battery provides a maximum runtime of approximately 4 hours at 22 °C.

Who might be interested in the Nocpix ROVEX?
The Nocpix ROVEX thermal imaging camera is particularly useful when quick detection and comfortable observation are more important than extreme detection range. For birdwatchers, wildlife observation, nature conservation, and systematically scanning vegetation, the large screen offers a clear practical advantage over traditional thermal imaging scopes with a small eyepiece.
The wide field of view, the fast F0.8 lens, and AI-assisted detection also make the ROVEX particularly effective when small heat sources need to be quickly located among grass, reeds, branches, or leaves.
