HECK-PACK OPTIMAL Game Carrier 1200 × 500 × 175 mm – hot-dip galvanized & matte powder-coated

The HECK-PACK OPTIMAL 1200 × 500 × 175 mm combines an exceptionally spacious loading platform with the stability required for serious game transport. The 1200 mm wide design offers plenty of space for game and bulky equipment, while the 175 mm high raised edge encloses the load significantly better than low, flat tow-hitch racks. With ECE type approval for a net load capacity of up to 89 kg, this model is built for hunters who view capacity, safety, and durability as a single, integrated whole.

The heavy-duty ST.37 steel frame is fully hot-dip galvanized in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1461 and then finished with a matte powder coat in black or green. Combined with the robust welded mesh, high-quality fasteners, and the tool-free, one-handed quick-release system, this creates a professional game carrier for the tow hitch that is designed for intensive use during hunting, wildlife management, and off-road work.

1200 × 500 × 175 mm – plenty of storage space, high sides

With a loading area of 1200 × 500 mm, this HECK-PACK OPTIMAL offers significantly more width than more compact game carriers. Especially when transporting game or larger pieces of equipment, that extra width prevents everything from having to be stacked on a small surface.

The 175 mm high rim makes this model particularly appealing to users who want more containment for their load.

Game, game crates, and other items can be easily placed inside the frame and then securely fastened with straps.

Why a 175 mm rim height makes a difference in practice

A higher rim is especially practical when the load is irregularly shaped or when multiple items are being transported at the same time.

Think of a shot roe deer along with boots and other dirty gear, or a game box that needs to remain stable on the rack. The raised frame provides more lateral support than a completely flat loading platform.

The 500 mm depth also ensures a good balance between cargo space and the overhang at the rear of the vehicle.

Transporting Bagged Game Outside the Car

A good game carrier mounted on the tow hook prevents hunted game from having to be placed unnecessarily in the trunk.

After a stalking, driven hunt, or other form of big-game hunting, the game can be placed directly on the HECK-PACK and secured. This keeps blood, hair, mud, ticks, moisture, and game odor out of the vehicle’s interior.

For hunters who also use their cars on a daily basis, that’s no small detail. It eliminates the need for intensive cleaning of the trunk and helps keep hunting and everyday use better separated.

Also suitable for dirty and wet hunting gear

The HECK-PACK OPTIMAL isn’t just for game. Its spacious loading platform is also practical for:

  • game containers;
  • muddy hunting boots;
  • wet clothing and gear;
  • bait and lures;
  • wildlife management tools;
  • forestry and outdoor equipment;
  • other items you specifically want to keep out of the car.

This means the rear rack can be used year-round, not just after a successful day of hunting.

Fully hot-dip galvanized in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1461

Rain, mud, blood, road salt, and moisture are part of everyday life for a game carrier. Under such conditions, a simple coat of paint does not provide the same long-term protection as a fully hot-dip galvanized structure.

That is why the HECK-PACK OPTIMAL is fully hot-dip galvanized in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1461.

This high-quality coating provides very long-lasting protection against corrosion. Under normal conditions, the protection can last approximately 30 years.

This corrosion protection is an important quality feature, especially for a product that is used intensively outdoors, gets wet regularly, and needs to be cleaned after a hunt.

Matte powder coating in black or green

In addition to the hot-dip galvanizing, this model features a high-quality matte powder coating.

You can choose from:

  • matte black;
  • matte green.

The powder coating gives the HECK-PACK a high-quality, understated look that complements professional hunting and outdoor gear.

If the rear rack is ordered with a lighting system, the protective brackets around the lights will also be powder-coated in the matching color. This ensures that the entire structure forms a visually cohesive whole.

ECE type approval with a net load capacity of 89 kg

A heavy-duty steel construction alone does not indicate how much load a rear rack is actually permitted to carry on public roads.

The HECK-PACK OPTIMAL stands out thanks to its current ECE type approval and a net permissible load capacity of no less than 89 kg.

When combined with a folding or collapsible mechanism, the net allowable load capacity is 71 kg.

With this, HECK-PACK positions the OPTIMAL as the strongest street-legal rear carrier/game carrier on the market.

Always check the maximum load capacity

The game rack’s maximum load capacity does not automatically mean that every vehicle can be loaded with 89 kg.

The maximum allowable ball pressure of the vehicle and the tow hitch remains the determining factor. The carrier’s own weight and the weight of the load must together remain within the vehicle’s allowable load capacity.

The HECK-PACK OPTIMAL 1200 × 500 × 175 mm has a net weight of approximately 16 kg.

ECE-approved in more than 60 countries

The current ECE type approval means that the HECK-PACK does not require a separate TÜV inspection and that the rack does not need to be registered separately in the vehicle registration documents.

Furthermore, the approval is valid in more than 60 countries and is not limited to the European Union. This includes, for example, countries such as Japan and Australia.

This offers a significant advantage for hunters who travel internationally or use their vehicle outside the Netherlands.

Approval remains valid with HECK-PACK extensions

The ECE approval is also valid when used in combination with designated HECK-PACK accessories and add-ons, including:

  • folding mechanism;
  • folding mechanism;
  • Adapter for Artemis game rack;
  • Adapter for Diana game rack.

This allows you to later expand the rack into a more complete game transport system without sacrificing the benefits of the approved configuration.

Heavy-duty ST.37 steel frame

Beneath the galvanized finish and powder coating lies a very sturdy welded steel frame.

The frame consists of ST.37 square steel tubing measuring 30 × 30 × 2 mm. This profile provides the 1200 mm-wide structure with the necessary rigidity to handle heavy loads.

The base consists of a welded steel grid with a mesh size of 50 × 50 × 5 mm.

The tensile strength of the welded joints on the rack ranges from 350 to 700 kg.

This makes it clear why this HECK-PACK is not comparable to a lightweight, universal luggage rack. The design was developed from the ground up for heavy loads and intensive use.

Open mesh bottom – practical after the hunt

The open 50 × 50 mm grid structure offers a functional advantage for a game rack.

Water and loose debris can drain out through the bottom, while the structure remains easily accessible for cleaning after transporting game.

This prevents mud from accumulating in a closed loading platform after a wet day of hunting. Water can also drain away easily when rinsing off the rack.

This makes this design particularly well-suited for users who actually use their game rack intensively and not just occasionally as a luggage rack.

Strength class 10.8 instead of 8.8

The quality of a heavy-duty rear rack is also evident in parts that are barely visible at first glance.

HECK-PACK uses bolts with a strength class of 10.8, instead of the commonly used class 8.8. The nuts are rated at strength class 10.

The welded construction and other finishing touches are also designed for long-term use.

Tubes and mesh bars are neatly finished without any unnecessarily sharp edges. The 2.5 mm radius required for road traffic on the square tube is maintained.

Assembles in seconds without tools

A professional game carrier must be sturdy when in use, but easy to remove when not needed.

That’s why the HECK-PACK OPTIMAL features a one-handed quick-release system with an adapter flange.

This allows the rack to be mounted on or removed from the tow hook in just a few seconds—completely without tools.

In addition, the locking system comes pre-assembled and bolted in place, rather than being included as a separate component with the rack.

Ideal for hunters who only use the rack when necessary

Before heading out for a day of hunting, quickly mount the HECK-PACK onto the tow hook. Once you return home, the entire rack can be removed again.

This means you don't have to drive around with an empty rear rack all the time.

Quick installation and removal are a particularly important practical advantage with a 1200 mm wide model.

Made in Germany – manufactured in the Westerwald

The HECK-PACK OPTIMAL is manufactured in Germany, in the Westerwald region. It is emphatically not a cheap, mass-produced item from China.

The difference lies in the overall construction: the heavy-duty steel frame, the strong welded mesh joints, high-quality bolts and nuts, full hot-dip galvanization, matte powder coating, meticulous finish, and official ECE type approval.

For an accessory that carries dozens of kilograms of cargo behind a vehicle and is exposed to the vehicle’s movements, weather conditions, and heavy use, reliable construction quality is essential.

Comes complete with ECE documentation

With the HECK-PACK OPTIMAL, you’ll receive a nameplate and an ECE certificate for street legality.

In addition, information is provided on how to use the rear rack with or without additional lighting in accordance with current EU regulations.

Depending on the vehicle configuration, additional lighting may be required. The included information can be used to determine which situation applies.

Theft protection and tie-down straps included as standard

A padlock is included as standard to secure the mounted rear rack.

You’ll also receive two straps for securing the load.

This gives you immediate access to essential fasteners for securely fastening game, a game box, or other equipment to the rack.

For which hunter is the 1200 × 500 × 175 mm model ideal?

This model is particularly useful if you want plenty of loading space in terms of width as well as a higher raised edge.

The combination of a 1200 mm width and a 175 mm rim height makes this HECK-PACK particularly suitable for:

  • transport of game;
  • roe deer and big game hunting;
  • hunting expeditions;
  • Use with a spacious game container;
  • wildlife management and nature conservation;
  • transporting wet or muddy gear;
  • Fieldwork with a large amount of equipment.

Compared to the 1200 × 500 × 125 mm model, this version offers the same generous width and depth, but with an additional 50 mm in rim height. This provides better containment for the load and makes this version an attractive option when game and equipment are regularly transported directly on the rack.

Why choose the HECK-PACK OPTIMAL 1200 × 500 × 175 mm?

This game carrier is designed for users who look beyond just size and purchase price.

The 1200 mm wide loading area, 175 mm high edge, ECE-approved net load capacity of up to 89 kg, heavy-duty ST.37 steel construction, and full hot-dip galvanization combine to form a system built for long-term and intensive use.

The matte powder coating provides a high-quality finish, while the one-handed quick-release system makes this large rack surprisingly practical for everyday use.

While lighter alternatives are primarily suited for occasional luggage transport, the HECK-PACK OPTIMAL 1200 × 500 × 175 mm was developed for hunters and land managers who are looking for a full-fledged, street-legal game carrier for serious use.
