The Fenix PD45R ACE is not just another flashlight. This is the first member of Fenix's new ACE (Advanced Command Edition) series, designed specifically for professionals who demand maximum control. Built for the real thing
The PD45R ACE can take a beating. Its CNC-machined metal housing provides a rugged and reliable feel. Thanks to its IP68 rating, this lamp is completely dust- and waterproof, and works flawlessly up to 2 meters underwater. The dimensions are compact enough for everyday use (158 mm long, 30 mm wide), while the weight of 200 grams including battery ensures a solid, but not too heavy feel in the hand.
How to use the Fenix PD45R ACE
You control the Fenix PD45R ACE effortlessly with the "tactical switch" and the "mode selection ring" on the back of the lamp. Switching between modes is done with the rotating mode selection ring just below the tactical switch. This easily switches between light mode, lock mode and SET mode.
Light mode: switch between all light modes
In light mode, you have access to all light modes. A short press of the tactical switch switches smoothly between Eco, Low, Med, High, Ultrahigh and Turbo. With the light on, press and hold the tactical switch for 0.5 second to activate strobe mode. Press the tactical switch fully again to deactivate strobe mode.
Lock mode: lock the flashlight or light mode
When the lamp is on, turn the mode selection ring to lock mode to lock the current light mode. The tactical switch then no longer works: you cannot turn the lamp off or change modes.
When the lamp is turned off, you can turn the mode selection ring to lock mode to fully lock the tactical switch. The lamp cannot then be accidentally turned on. From lock mode, turn the ring back to another mode to unlock the lamp again.
SET mode: define your own preset
This is where the PD45R ACE really stands out from the rest of the Fenix range: the SET mode. It lets you decide which light modes are available when you use the lamp. You choose from 6 preset combinations, tailored to different situations. Think: short and powerful, or just long lasting and energy efficient.
Here's how it works:
Turn the mode selection ring to SET
The lamp flashes the number of times your current preset indicates (e.g. 4x flashing = option 4)
Press the tactical switch fully to select a different option. Each click is one preset up (e.g., 2x clicks = option 2).
The lamp confirms with the number of flashes which new option you have chosen.
Turn the mode selection ring back to light mode and use the chosen preset.
Turbo: 3200 lumens, 2 hours and 20 minutes, 410 meters
Ultrahigh: 1400 lumens, 3 hours and 20 minutes, 252 meters
High: 600 lumens, 5 hours and 30 minutes, 165 meters
Med: 300 lumens, 9 hours and 30 minutes, 118 meters
Low: 100 lumens, 30 hours, 66 meters
Eco: 30 lumens, 57 hours, 36 meters
Strobe mode
Strobe: 3200 lumens
Intelligent overheating protection
During prolonged use in Turbo or Ultrahigh light mode, the lamp builds up a lot of heat. Once the temperature rises to 60 degrees or higher, the lamp automatically lowers the lumen count to cool down until the Medium level is reached. If the temperature drops below 60 degrees again, the lamp gradually returns to the previously set light level.
Charging and battery status
The Fenix PD45R ACE comes with a powerful 6000mAh 21700 battery. The USB-C charging port is cleverly hidden under the head of the lamp, so dirt and moisture have no chance. Turn the ring at the bottom of the head to reveal the charging port. Simply plug in the included UBS-C cable. Charging takes about 3 hours with an 18W adapter. The lamp indicates battery status via a battery indicator:
Green light constantly on: 100% - 85%
Green light flashing: 85% - 50%
Red light constantly on: 50% - 25%
Red light flashing: 25% - 1%
Please note that this feature only works with Fenix ARB-L21 series batteries.
